Laurence Manya Krief, better known as Yoyo, has 5ha of old vines, predominantly in Banyuls, wedged between the ocean and the mountains. After freeing herself from the chaos of the textiles industry in Paris, Yoyo moved to Banyuls, near her hometown of Perpignan, in the early 2000’s. Searching for old vines and varying expositions, she began to purchase small plots of abandoned vines overlooking the ocean. She converted the vines of grenache (all 3 colours), carignan, and mourvedre to organic agriculture, and now works steep slopes of black schist parcels by hand. In a constant quest for balance, she strives to encapsulate the warm Mediterranean sun along with the salty ocean breezes and create the most elegant wines. Being the best at what she does, and a great friend and mentor to Lindsay, Yoyo has carved out a very special place in our hearts. Her wines bring us right to Banyuls, one of our favorite places on earth.
